Frank Field

Frank Field, a former New Labour Welfare Minister and the current co-Chairman of the Cross Party Parliamentary Group on Immigration, is an unusually honest politician whose statements and opinions are often way out of step with the politically correct fashion of the times.

Much of what he says I applaud. Here are a few of the things he has told us that Blair, Brown, Cameron and co. might wish he had kept to himself:

“Come the election, Labour will have been in office for 13 years. Voters are entitled to ask why, if crisis moves are required now, the Government didn't act sooner to counter the hothouse in which neighbours from hell are so easily bred…

All the crime figures over the past 50 to 100 years show how anti-social disorder has gradually taken over. In my constituency of Birkenhead, THERE ARE NOW MORE VIOLENT CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON THAN THERE WERE IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY 50 YEARS AGO…

THIS IS A NATIONAL EMERGENCY, and IT IS TIME FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO EMPOWER DECENT CITIZENS TO RECLAIM THE STREETS.” (The Daily Telegraph - 1 October 2009)

After the backbench revolt over abolition of 10p tax rate, which hit the poorest hardest, was defeated, Frank Field, the leader of the revolt, said this:

“The golden thread that knits us all together is that we came into this place not only to protect but to advance the interests of those who get the least from life. THE 10P IS A DENIAL OF ALL THAT WE HAVE COME INTO PUBLIC LIFE ABOUT…

Getting back into order now involves such change of such magnitude that for the first time for generations ISSUES OF PUBLIC ORDER WILL BE A KEY PART OF THE POLITICAL PROCESS... If we are quick enough we will start to get the changes through and a commitment made to our voters before we have quite WIDESPREAD DISORDER. There will be change, it's whether we lead the change or whether we're actually pushed into the change." (The Times - 8 July 2009)

"We came into this place not only to protect but to advance the interests of those who get the least from life"?

This may have been your raison d'etre, Frank, but it's not why most of them choose a career in politics. Most MPs enter parliament in order to "advance the interests" of themselves and those who own their dirty behinds.

"FOR MANY YEARS, PROBABLY A GENERATION, IMMIGRATION HAS BEEN A NO-GO AREA TO BRITISH POLITICS. THOSE WHO HAVE RAISED THE SUBJECT HAVE BEEN INSULTED, ABUSED AND, ALL TOO OFTEN, SILENCED.

Net migration – the number of people coming to the UK minus the people leaving – has more than quadrupled since 1997. Our population is officially projected to reach 70 million by 2028 and 80 million in mid-century, with immigration the main driver...

Cold statistics do not paint the whole picture. Delve beneath ‘seven new Birminghams’ and we see that in the next 20 years, one third of projected household formations will be a result of immigration, meaning WE WILL NEED TO BUILD 260 HOUSES A DAY FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS.

If the Government does not adopt the policy of balanced migration OUR POPULATION IS SET TO RISE TO A LEVEL TO WHICH THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ARE STRONGLY OPPOSED." (Daily Express - 26 April 2009)

"I CAN'T UNDERESTIMATE HOW TERRIBLE THE FINANCIAL CRISIS IS even if it doesn't get a penny worse. No sensible person would sit in front of this camera and tell you there is no possibility whatsoever of disorder... The pension crisis is part of a bigger crisis of public finance. We can either try and get in first by leading the way about getting out accounts into order or WE'LL BE FORCED TO DO SO BY UNREST". (Panorama - 23 March 2009)

"HIS (Gordon Brown's) CLAIM TO HAVE PROVIDED BRITISH JOBS FOR BRITISH WORKERS IS AS HOLLOW AS IT COULD BE... Foreign firms can win a contract and import their own labour TO THE EXCLUSION OF BRITISH WORKERS.

I have been calling on ministers for years to cut down on the number of people coming here to work. NO GOVERNMENT HAS HAD MORE WARNINGS. OF THE THREE MILLION JOBS CREATED IN THE LAST DECADE, NINE OUT OF 10 HAVE GONE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT BRITISH.” (Daily Express - 1 February 2009)

"SLOWLY, BUT DETERMINEDLY, THE WHITE ENGLISH WORKING CLASS - AND I GUESS, SOME BLACK BRITONS, TOO - ARE VOTING AGAINST UNLIMITED IMMIGRATION BY EMBRACING THE BNP". (Daily Mail - 10 January 2009)

“As a nation, we cannot afford to let our population grow at the extraordinary pace now officially forecast. The pressures on our public services and communities would be too great to bear. This timebomb must be defused and that requires radical action, now. GOVERNMENT CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE TAKING EFFECTIVE ACTION ARE NO MORE THAN A GIGANTIC BLUFF.” (Joint statement by Frank Field and Nicholas Soames, the co-Chairmen of the Cross Party Group on Immigration - 5 January 2009)

On 8 March 2008, Frank Field was seen in BBC 2’s Enoch Powell documentary, Rivers of Blood.

This is what he said regarding immigration during the course of the programme:

“THERE WAS A CONSPIRACY BETWEEN BOTH PARTIES (in the 1960s)... Neither side wanted to discuss this issue. So both sides found it very convenient not to discuss this issue, certainly NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN, i.e. THE VOTERS…

The word on the street is apprehension. The word on the street is that PEOPLE ARE LEAVING IF THEY CAN. If you look at the composition of the people going it’s because THEY DON’T ACTUALLY LIKE LARGELY WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THIS COUNTRY...

I don’t think we’ve yet effectively put over just how troubled many of our constituents are by this and that’s worrying because IF YOU ALLOW THINGS TO BREW THEY CAN ERUPT IN ALL SORTS OF WAYS.”

"In all sorts of ways", says Frank.

Well, as long as it was a "sort of way" where the innocent majority did not, for once, get punished for the sins of the guilty elite, I must say, Frank's predicted eruption holds no terrors for me.
